Welcome to the Access for Windows 95 Bible Sample Files

To install all of the sample files follow the steps below:

  1. Insert the floppy disk into your floppy disk drive 
  2. Select Run... from the Windows 95 Start menu
  3. Enter A:\SETUP into the Open dialog box
  4. Press the OK button

Setup will ask you where you want to copy the sample files. The
default directory is C:\BIBLE95. You can change the default location
to any valid drive or directory on your system.

After you install the files, you need to rename two of the .MDB files
to correspond to the long file names used in the book. Due to the 
unavailability of installation programs that support long file names 
we had to rename our database files to create the installation
routines.

Please rename the following files as shown below:

Mountain.mdb - Rename to Mountain Animal Hospital.mdb 
MtnStart.mdb - Rename to Mountain Animal Start.mdb

The other .mdb files can be used with their present names.
All the .MDB files are Microsoft Access for Windows 95 files. They
only work in Microsoft Access for Windows 95 and do not work in 
Microsoft Access 2.0, 1.1, or 1.0. 

Besides the sample files used by the book which includes the Mountain 
Animal Hospital examples are several files from Cary Prague Books and 
Software the world's largest Microsoft Access add-on vendor. 

These are fully working applications which you can use and customize:

  Check95.mdb    -  Fully functional Check Writer including a Check Register
		    and Check Reconciliation module
  BusForms.mdb   -  Access Business Forms Library Sampler

Both are given to you free of charge for your own use. These are both
standard Access database files. To use either of them, simply open the 
database file. A program will automatically display the library.

Busforms.mdb is a sample of our Business Forms Library, a collection of 35
forms and reports. These contain some really innovative techniques that have
never been seen anywhere else. The entire library contains tables, forms,
reports, macros for each of the forms and reports. You can integrate them 
into your own applications thereby saving you hundreds of hours of work. 
Microsoft liked these forms so much they distributed this sampler in the
Microsoft Access Welcome Kit with Microsoft Access 2.0. 

Checks95.mdb is an upgrade to our award winning Check Writer for Microsoft 
Access 2.0. This product won the Microsoft Network award in August 1995 
for best Access software product. You are free to use it in your applications
and modify it any way you want.

There is also a file named BUTTONS.EXE on your disk. This is a set of 
Microsoft Office compatible button faces for use in any Windows 95
application. They can be used on Access 95 toolbars as described in
Chapter 32. To use these button faces simply copy the file BUTTONS.EXE
onto your hard disk and run the program BUTTONS. This will expand into
24 button face .BMP files which you can use in your applications.

The files named ACTxx.BMP are 32x32 pixel .BMP's perfect for Access command
buttons while the files named ACTxx.B24 are 24x23 pixel .BMP's perfect for
Access 95 toolbars and any Office Compatible application.
